Who was Freddy Angels?

Born November the 28th 1820 (189 years ago) in the Death River* Valley, he later went westwards and made his fortune as a textile manufacturer in Manchester; also he was of course a legendary revolutionist, writer of influential treatises and best mate of notorious troublemaker Charly Marks.
Today he is still well known as the inventor of that ingenious ZZ Top beard style (see below)…
